Cutting back on calories could be as easy as cutting up your
chow. New research from Arizona State
University found that people who were given a bael with cream cheese that had
been sliced into foru pieces ate less of it that those who received a “whole”
one. Suprinsingly, the effect lasted
through their next meal, whe the bitz-size- protion group consumed 40% fewer
calories that their counter parts. “This
shows that you can trick your brain into thinking you’re taking in more that
you actually are,” says lead researcher Devin Wadher. And in case you think you’re just psyching
your serf out, another study revealed that rats behaved similarly, suggesting that
this perception is hardwired. It may be
time to bring finger food back into fashion.
