THANK YOU TEXT MESSAGE
Thank You
Simple Words
2 Words
They can change your entire day!
I have worked in the medical world for over 25 years. I have a respect for doctors. I can't imagine going to college, then to medical school followed by residency programs and fellowships and the endless hours of study and work. I respect them. Do I understand what all they do? Absolutely not! I don't question them about why they do what they do. I respect them. Some may say that I probably take that a little to far. When I am at work with any physician I will NOT sit in their chair. I know that is silly to most but it's not mine to sit in. When I worked in an office, you would NEVER see me sitting in their chair. I would never look for things in or on their desk unless I was asked to go and look for something. I always will answer with "Yes Sir" or "Yes Ma'am". That is the way I was taught and therefore, that is the way that I am.
There are some physicians that can be a challenge at times. They can be short with you in their answers. They can even go so far as to ignore you. Some even make it a game to see if they can hang up before you. There are some that you can joke around with and there are some that you try to leave alone because there mind is focused on their work. One thing remains. They are just like you and me. They are human and as the old saying goes....."They put on their pants one leg at a time just like you and me".
Why in the world would I say all of this? What is the point Pam? Here's my point. Last week we had a patient that is in a GREAT deal of pain. She had had 2 procedures in our department and she was no better. I was her contact in the department. She called and then the physician texted me. We had to do something for her. I made calls to several offices. I called her daughter. I talked to the patient 3 times. I was texting with the physician, who by the way was off for several days in a row but he was working via texting. After about an hour of phone calls and texting, we had an appointment for the patient the next morning. Here's the clicker......The last text that I received from the physician was "Great & Thank you for all you do". WOW!!!!! I didn't see that one coming! I was just doing my job. That text message from this particular physician changed my whole attitude for the rest of the week. I may screen shot it and print it to hang in my office. (No, I'm just kidding!)
This week, my challenge for you is to tell someone "THANK YOU!" I would actually even say you can text message them. Just tell someone thank you. It's 2 simple words that can change EVERYONE'S day!!!!! You just might be shocked!! Give it a try and let me know what happens!!
Blessings,
Coach Pam
